Established in 1994, the Employee Benefits Plan was created for the non-teaching employees of Nova Scotia school boards. The plan was originally comprised of 22 different plans, which meant the coverage for each board was different. When the amalgamation of school boards occurred, the employee benefits committee worked diligently to shape a province-wide plan. In 2005, the Members Employees Benefits (MEB) was formed. The province wide plan now has approximately 3,000 members and an annual premium of approximately $6 million.

The NSSBA benefits plan is administered by Johnson Insurance, and offers school board employees a variety of services and benefits. If you are a member of the Employee Benefits Plan, click here to access the Johnson Insurance Members Only website for information on your coverage. The plan underwriter is Medavie Blue Cross, and to access their member website, click here.
